Why: The more we know, the more we build community power; we can build a city that serves the people, not shareholder-owned corporations. We Won't Pay To Be Poisoned
Did you know NYC's largest fossil fuel depot is right in North Brooklyn, adjacent to homes, businesses, and playgrounds?
Did you also know that we pay for it through our monthly utility bills?
National Grid, a UK-based monopoly corporation, wants a massive bill increase from you for its leaky, toxic gas system, which is putting us in debt, harming our health, and breaking New York climate law.
Join the No North Brooklyn Pipeline and Sane Energy Project for an info session and walking tour of the LNG (Liquefied "Natural" Gas) facility to learn how we are working to transform this site into 120 acres that serve the community, not a shareholder-focused corporation.
The gas systems should be RETIRED, NOT REPLACED! New York State law requires that we get off all fossil fuels by 2050 to mitigate the climate disasters unfolding in real time before us. We shouldn’t be paying 3.8 BILLION dollars for National Grid to invest in their decrepit gas system!
Climate change is here, with extreme heat, brutal cold, massive wildfires, devastating hurricanes, and previously unimaginable floods. We CAN build an energy system that does not harm us!
The Public Service Commission (PSC) and the governor must ensure that we meet the requirements of the state climate law, protect our residents, farms, and businesses, and lead the nation in smart climate policy.

On September 24th, we’re rallying at NYPA headquarters in White Plains to demand action! 🌿 Together, we’ll call on our leaders to build 15 gigawatts of public renewable energy by 2030 and set a nationwide example for tackling the climate crisis.
Sane Energizers and Greenpoint residents, we're looking for people like YOU to join the No North Brooklyn Pipeline Alliance, a team of passionate volunteers working locally for climate justice to help spread the word, starting Monday, 9/23, in Greenpoint.
Our communities have suffered from toxic peaker plants polluting our air and planet for too long. 🏭 Asthma rates are sky-high in places like the South Bronx, Williamsburg, and Astoria because of fossil fuels. But we won a victory last year: all NY peaker plants will be shut down by 2030, and public renewables will power our future.

Join us this Saturday as we stand with Extinction Rebellion Ireland to reject LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) pipelines. We oppose the construction of LNG import terminals on Irish shores. Our vision is a future powered by clean energy, free from the dangers of fracking and fossil fuels. We refuse to let toxic LNG, produced through environmentally destructive fracking, be transported across the Atlantic and stored on Ireland's coast. From Dublin to NYC, we say no to fracking, no to harmful pipelines, and yes to sustainable, clean energy and a healthier planet.
National Grid, a U.K.-based corporation, is proposing more money from Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island customers to expand its fracked gas system. An unprecedented rate increase will raise everyone’s bills in 2024 by an average of $30 a month and exponentially increase in 2025 and 2026, totaling about $67.00 more per month on your bill.

We invite you, the public, to join us on Thursday, August 15 at 10:00 am to be an audience witness at the Monthly Meeting of the New York State Public Service Commission. Join us at Empire State Plaza, Agency Building 3 - 19th Floor Albany, NY 12223-1350
Join Citizen Action of New York, AGREE, Sane Energy Project, Syracuse United Neighbors, and others to learn about the proposed rate hike for electric and gas in National Grid's upstate NY territory, including Syracuse and Albany. We'll also hear from Sane Energy Project about the downstate rate case proceeding, its results, and next steps to action. This briefing will cover how rate proceedings work, how we can fight unjust rate hikes, and how to get involved with our in-person actions in both Albany and Syracuse on August 15.

On July 2nd, we will host an info session starting at 6:00 pm, followed by a walking tour or car tour (for differently abled folx) to see the liquified “natural gas (LNG) vaporizers in Greenpoint and learn how Sane Energy is fighting to block construction by National Grid.
Join us on June 2nd for a multi-stop event as we raise awareness and demand the shutdown of National Grid's toxic fossil fuel depot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We aim to visualize a sustainable future for the 120-acre site and demonstrate community opposition to National Grid's destructive practices.
RADIOACTIVITY AND TOXICITY IN NYC’S GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM | Press conference unveiling multiple critical issues concerning the presence of radioactivity in New York City’s gas distribution system via recently published investigative book, Petroleum-238: Big Oil’s Dangerous Secret and the Grassroots Fight to Stop I
The launch party at Jalopy will feature special performances and conversations with a whistle-blowing oilfield waste worker and a mother-daughter grassroots environmental activism team from rural Ohio. Sane Energy is co-hosting the Event.
Utilities abuse their power to line their pockets and we pay the price. We pay the electricity bills and utilities turn it around to use it against us. They are using ratepayer funds for lobbying, campaign donations, and other political tactics. It’s time to stop utilities from playing with house money to bankroll their shady campaigns to raise our rates and block cheaper energy sources.
Join Renewable Heat Now and allies for a day of action and advocacy to get the NY HEAT Act included in the state budget. A mobilization of hundreds of people is critical to show Governor Hochul, Assembly Speaker Heastie, and Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins that they must prioritize climate & affordability by including the NY HEAT Act in this year’s budget.
Join us for a rally and press event in support of passing the NY HEAT Act in the state budget.
The HEAT Act will lower energy bills while fighting climate change, eliminating massive ratepayer subsidies for new fracked gas infrastructure.
This event will feature data for how much the legislation would reduce energy bills in the region while halting ratepayer subsidies for building new fracked gas infrastructure.
